4/26/08 COMMUNITY WORKSHOP ON ASPERGER'S SYNDROME

Preparing Students with Asperger's Syndrome and Non-Verbal Learning Differences for Success with College, Careers, and Independence

MELBOURNE, FL -- APRIL 2, 2008 -- The College Internship Program (CIP) at the Brevard Center is pleased to offer a community workshop for parents and educators on Saturday, April 26 th from 9:00am to 12:00pm entitled " Preparing Students with Asperger's Syndrome and Non-Verbal Learning Differences for Success with College, Careers, and Independence."

Dr. Stephen Nassar, Dr. Debra Jacoby, and Karen Rathgeber, MS, OTR, will discuss topics such as Social Thinking, Clinical Issues, and Sensory Issues. CIP Students with Asperger's Syndrome (AS) and Non-Verbal Learning Differences (NLD) will speak about their personal growth experiences as they prepare for independence. A panel discussion at the end of the workshop will provide attendants with the opportunity for Q & A. Following the workshop, participants will have the option to tour the CIP Academic & Advising Center and student residences.  

Early registration by April 15th is $15 for individuals and $20 for families. This event is a fundraiser for the CIP Student Senate. No child care will be provided.
