Supported Apartment Living
CIP students engage in 12-month leases and live in furnished apartments with their own bedrooms. These independent yet supportive living arrangements allow students to experience independence with plenty of support to fall back on. Students learn to live interdependently with the help of their roommates, neighbors and CIP staff members. 24/7 staffing is available in the case of emergencies.
Residential goals are focused on students obtaining greater competency and success with independent living. Roommate(s) find a social balance and assist each other in completing a rotating maintenance schedule including laundry, organization and cleaning. The residential staff works with students individually to assess and teach the skills necessary for independence.
As skills improve, students demonstrate the need for less supervision in each area, and take a step toward greater independence.
