Student Advising
As you enter the College Internship Program, you will be assigned a Student Advisor. The role of the Advisor is to be a case manager and advisor for you. The Advisor is also the conduit through which your progress at CIP is communicated with your family on a bi-weekly basis. This is a way to keep families informed and involved with your development at CIP.
The Student Advisor helps you in various ways:
- Setting short- and long-term goals
- Banking and budgeting
- Coordinating your program plan
- Self-advocacy skills
- Coordinating schedules
- Setting appointments
- Dealing with day-to-day problems
- Communication on important issues with you and your parents
The Student Advisor also oversees your path of progress and is responsible for coordinating annual progress reports and maintaining communication with other departments, as well as your family.
