Recreational Supports

Socialization and Recreation

Having an active social life at CIP is an important component of the residential program. You will have the opportunity to develop lasting friendships and social networks though our recreational activities and social mentors. The diverse student population comes from all across America as well as foreign countries. The CIP community strives to foster a supportive environment in which all individuals are affirmed, and differences are valued. Each student will participate in activities throughout the week including study hall, health club and community potluck.

Weekend Activities

There will also be a minimum of two recreation activities offered on the weekends. You will learn to keep an open mind with each activity, be considerate of your peers' likes and dislikes, and make compromises. The staff at CIP will help you understand proper ways to initiate conversation with peers from both within and outside CIP and provide you with appropriate socialization techniques. Your continuous activity and socialization participation will help you make lifetime connections with many peers and give you more self-confidence.

Physical Fitness and Healthy Lifestyle

To encourage physical fitness and healthy lifestyle, you will be able to utilize the local health club facilities. CIP residential staff will provide transportation for you at least two days each week. Physical fitness and exercise is an important component of the program for the following reasons: Regular exercise has proven to reduce stress, anxiety and depression. It boosts self-esteem, improves your sleep habits, builds energy levels, reduces body fat, strengthens the heart and builds bones and provides you with an overall healthy lifestyle.

Optional Student Trip

Each year, the College Internship Program researches and arranges for a fun, educational and culturally diverse foreign trip during the student break in March. If you choose to participate, prior to leaving, you will study and become familiar with the vacation itinerary, as well as the history, language and culture of the country you will explore. While these trips are learning experiences, there is ample time for fun and socialization. Examples of trips include: England, Ireland, Italy, The Caribbean, France, Mexico, Spain, Ecuador, Greece, The Galapagos Islands, Chile and Belize. Not included in tuition.
