Money Management / Budgeting Skills
Managing money is one of the building blocks of an independent life. As part of the Advising program at CIP, students are taught practical money management they can use for the rest of their lives. Students are responsible for their own expenses, understand the principle of budgeting and are accountable for the payment of monthly bills.
You will receive personal guidance each week in four main areas, depending on your level of financial management skills:
- Understanding banking forms
- Budgeting funds
- Paying bills
- Reconciling bank registers
Here are some of the technical points you will cover:
- Weekly receipts, paychecks and bills to be paid
- Deposit and withdrawal slips
- Statement savings accounts
- Checking accounts
- Budgeting for weekly needs
- Long-term budgeting for an item or vacation
- Log of weekly expenses
- ATM / Debit card
- Online banking
