Levels of Support

Since every student is unique it takes an individualized approach to provide social, academic, career and life skills to be successful. We expand on real life goals such as the completion of a degree, building a career, developing a social network and learning the life skills to live independently. Students receive unparalleled supports in the areas they will benefit from the most.

Entry Levels of Support (1-4)

Incoming CIP students are assessed into an entry Level of Support (1-4). Students generally move up to less structured levels as they acquire the skills and competencies necessary. A student’s level is determined by their progress.

    What are the advantages?

  • Individualized curriculum based on students needs
  • Motivates the student to work for a clearly defined plan of action
  • Lower costs

Continuum of Support (Levels 5-6)

Students who are accepted into our Continuum of Support have the option of retaining the key supports they need while living off-campus and transitioning into the commmunity.

    What are the Advantages?

  • Retain the crucial supports for success while demonstrating independence
  • Live on a college campus or in an apartment nearby
  • Stay connected to CIP community

Entry Levels Brief Description of Levels*
Level 1 Gain from self-awareness and understanding of core issues such as sensory integration, relationship development, social thinking, theory of mind and executive functioning. Develop insight into learning differences and growth from within.
Level 2 General understanding of learning difference. May take a class at the college level or begin career assessments. Benefits from more structured time with advisor and residential support within the apartment.
Level 3 Benefits from CIP's core curriculum while attending college part time or active in an internship or job. Shows more independence but needs a good amount of support.
Level 4 Partial or full enrollment in college courses and/or involved in an internship, work study or job. Students are better able to balance their social life with academics or employment with little support.
Continuum Levels Brief Description of Levels*
Level 5 Living off-campus and either fully involved with college courses and/or employment. Benefits from occasional supports such as advising, clinical, academic tutoring and social transition group, as well as weekend activities and other social activities at CIP.
Level 6 Students live off-campus either working or enrolled in college. Continue to develop a social network and support system of their own. Actively involved in the community and maintain the skills necessary to fully realize their potential and support themselves. A minimal amount of individualized services are offered. Examples include social mentoring and assistance with banking and budgeting.
*A comprehensive assessment is done in order to select the best possible supports for each student. Levels and the services within may vary.
